Hofner bases are a classic
bass made popular by one of the world's best know musicians.
Do you know who? Paul Mccartney. His bass of choice was a
Hofner. They looked like a violin and there is a good reason
for that. Karl Hofner the founder was master violinist. He
started his company 1887 and the company has been creating
great musical instruments ever since. There are not many companies
that have over 100 years of experience.
Hofner instruments created many types of stringed instruments
and quickly became the largest manufacturer in Germany. The
quality of these wonderful instruments was second to none
and that helped to propel them into the spotlight. Innovation
was also a big factor in making Hofner so popular. Creating
high quality instruments was more like a work of art for Hofner.
Each and every instrument became his canvas as his designs
and ideas were soon brought to musical life. and it shows
in the attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Creating great sounding violins and acoustic guitars was
not enough. In 1956 Walter Hofner the son Karl had a great
idea. He wanted to create an bass guitar that resembled a
violin. He also thought it would be a great idea if it had
a semi hollow body much like an acoustic guitar. His great
idea changed rock and roll history. Soon this style of bass
became known as the "Beatles Bass" due to Mccartney's
love of the instrument.
It is hard to put down a success and this popular style of
bass is still available to this day! |
