Many people believe
that Fender created the electric guitar, however Audiovox
was ahead of the game on that one by about fifteen years.
Fender was the first to mass produce the electric guitar
which is the cause of the confusion. The guitar designed
by Leo Fender is miraculous in that it is still being
produced and sold. The name of this monumental bass
came from the ability to consistently play in tune.
With earlier basses the tune was based on the players
ear not fixed frets. Thanks to Leo Fender’s innovative
fretted fingerboards players can now play with precision.
The Fender Precision Bass
Guitar was made famous by Bill Black, the guitarist
with Elvis Presley. He used the Precision Bass in the
filming of Jailhouse Rock giving the guitar unprecedented
exposure. After other bass guitarists saw the Precision
in action, they undoubtedly saw the advantages this
Fender Bass Guitar would offer them.
The Fender Bass Guitar changed music forever. Rather
than just setting a rhythm as was the case with the
double bass guitar, now the bass is a central part to
the music. The bass can now add depth to the music.
The Fender Jazz Bass is also a very popular bass guitar.
It is said to have a more “Jazz-like” sound.
It was made with a Jazz Player in mind, the contours
of the instrument along with the shape was thought to
be appealing to a Jazz player who were switching from
an upright bass. There is no denying that Fender has
definitely left their mark in the music industry.
